Buy-up information, project status, & details
Aerial Services, Inc. is proud to have been chosen by their native State of Iowa to acquire aerial orthophotography of 82 of the 99 counties during the next two years. This is the first wide-area contract Aerial Services has been awarded since the November 2008 announcement of their purchase of Leica’s ADS80 Aerial Digital Sensor. In addition, subcontractor Pixxures, Inc. will be an integral part of the Aerial Services’ team.
The 2009 and 2010 project specifications call for 41 counties to be acquired in four-bands each year at 2-foot resolution for the State. These acquisitions, along with 17 counties acquired by another contractor in 2008, will complete Statewide four-band 2-foot resolution orthophotography for use by various entities within the government and private sectors.

Buy-Ups To Higher Resolutions Available To Various Entities
In addition to the required Statewide photography deliverable, the team will also be providing buy-up options for higher resolution imagery to regional, county, municipal, and private entities. These buy-ups, which will be negotiated as related but separate contracts by Aerial Services, will incorporate pricing as proposed in the Iowa Statewide negotiations. These buy-up contracts will allow participating local governments to gain a financial benefit from the State investment for acquisition of higher resolution imagery for their area(s) of interest. Buy-ups allow these entities to purchase higher resolution orthophotography (3” – 12” GSD), topographic mapping, 4-band imagery (full color plus color infrared), change detection, and a host of other services.
Initiating Buy-Up Contracts
Buy-up contracts are now being entertained, for imagery during the 2010 spring acquisition season.
